Wash the cranberries and pick out stems or soft berries
Add the clean berries to a small saucepan
Juice the orange half, strain it into a measuring cup, and add enough water to make 1/3 cup liquid
Pour the juice mixture into the saucepan
Zest the orange half and add the zest to the berries
Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes until the berries start to pop
Taste the sauce and add extra sugar if you want it sweeter
Continue cooking for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until a spoon dragged across the bottom leaves a clear line that does not immediately fill in
