Ingredients

For the shrimp:

  • 1 lb medium shrimp peeled and deveined
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ¾ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • Chopped chives for garnish

For the Bang Bang sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  • Peel and devein shrimp, removing tails
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C)
  • Place shrimp in a large bowl and cover with buttermilk
  • In a medium bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, and pepper
  • Remove shrimp from buttermilk and coat in cornstarch mixture, shaking off excess
  • Carefully add shrimp to the hot oil
  • Fry for 3–5 minutes, or until shrimp are golden brown and crispy
  • Remove and drain on paper towels
  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Sriracha, honey, and sweet chili sauce
  • Serve shrimp immediately with sauce and garnish with chopped chives
